NEXT GENERATION LEADERS
2015 Call for Applications
PROGRAM SUMMARY
The
purpose of the Next Generation Leaders Program at the Allen Institute
for Brain Science is twofold: to recognize outstanding and innovative contributions from emerging scientific leaders at early stages of their
careers; and to foster professional development by providing
opportunities and informal training on how to serve as scientific
advisors. The Next Generation Leaders will gain experience with the
model of collaborative team science embraced at the Institute, and serve
as Institute ambassadors with academic and industry colleagues.
PROGRAM BENEFITS
- Present at the annual Showcase Symposium, to be held December 2-3, 2015, in Seattle, WA.
- Attend
an Allen Institute project advisory council meeting with senior scientists from
across the world.
- Network with Allen Institute scientists and serve as ambassadors for the Institute.
PROGRAM DETAILS
- All Next Generation Leaders will serve a three-year term.
- All travel expenses and a small annual honorarium will be paid.
- Up to six Next Generation Leaders will be appointed each year.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Applicants are required to have: (1) a PhD in any basic scientific, biomedical or technological field; (2) a current position as a post-doctoral researcher, or as an Assistant Professor appointed within the previous 2 years (or the equivalent level in industry); (3) a strong publication record; and (4) a passion for understanding the complex problems facing brain research today.
